How is carbon fiber plate produced?

Carbon fiber plate uses high-quality carbon fiber raw materials and good basic resin. Carbon fiber plate has good properties such as high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, shock resistance and impact resistance, so it belongs to a widely used form of carbon fiber composites.

Today, we mainly discuss its production process, which is divided into the following steps:

1. The cutting of prepreg: there are various specifications of the plate. We should cut the carbon fiber prepreg according to the length and width of the plate, and determine the thickness of the prepreg according to the thickness of the plate. The greater the thickness of the plate, the more laminated prepreg is needed. Taking 1mm 3K carbon fiber plate as an example, two layers of 3K carbon fiber prepreg and four layers of unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg are usually needed. The conventional plate thickness is: 0.2mm, 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 3.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm, 10.0mm, 20mm and so on.

2. Layer of prepreg: select a kind of metal material whose strength is given, but the carbon fiber material is different, in production, change at any time according to the demand of tensile force and strength of the plate, reasonably design the laying direction and sequence of carbon fiber prepreg. The commonly used laying directions are 0 °, ±45 °and 90 °. Choose the angle orientation according to the type of load, and make the best use of the axial performance of the fiber. The different coating sequence will not only affect the initial load, growth rate and fracture toughness of the matrix crack, but also have a significant effect on the saturation and density of the matrix crack.

3. Molding curing: close the mold of the stacked carbon fiber plate and put it into the press to modulate the temperature, time and pressure. If the mold temperature is high, the fluidity of the material is better and the curing speed is accelerated, but too high temperature will make the inner and outer materials solidify differently, making the products swollen and deformed, and the low temperature will lower the strength of the products. The pressure can make the mold close and make the material denser, which ensures the material flow. Time is the time of heat preservation and pressure preservation, which ensures that there is enough time to complete the curing.

In the whole curing process, the heating and pressure time needs to be adjusted according to the different needs of carbon fiber plate. Different temperature and heating time will affect the material properties of carbon fiber board. in the actual production process, under the premise of maintaining dimensional stability in the post-curing stage, the time of hot pressing should be shortened as much as possible.

4. Post-processing of the plate: after curing and forming, the carbon fiber board should be processed by cutting, drilling and other post-processing in order to meet the requirements of precision or assembly. Under the same conditions of cutting process parameters and cutting depth, there is a great difference in the effect of selecting tools and bits with different materials, sizes and shapes. At the same time, the strength, direction, time and temperature of the tool and bit will also affect the machining results.
